About the event
Fall can be tricky. Things you do in September depend on what you observe in each colony and your management style. There are simple things that can improve your winter success if you are observant. Take your losses before winter by combining colonies if they are weak or have failing queens. Rearrange brood to the bottom box. Feed 1:1 to promote queen laying or to 2:1 for winter stores. This is a good time to downsize with combines and removal of extra supers.
